What is Lent?
Lent is a 40-day season leading up to Easter where we slow down, and turn our attention toward Jesus. It’s a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal; remembering our need for grace and celebrating the hope of resurrection.
Lent isn’t about self punishment.
It’s about being with Jesus.
How to Participate:
Fasting
Fasting is the practice of letting go of foregoing meals in order to draw closer to Christ. During lent we will be giving up particular vices or anything that distracts us from Jesus. This can include fasting meals. Some people giving up food, skipping a meal and using that time to pray. Others lay down specific habits, comforts, or rhythms that clutter their lives.
The goal isn’t deprivation for its own sake, but attentiveness to His presence.
Ask yourself:
What distracts me from God?
What fills my calendar but drains my soul?
What could I release to make more room for prayer and presence?
Lent is not a spiritual self-upgrade or a redo of New Year’s resolutions. When it becomes about discipline alone, we miss the point. Lent leads us back to the heart of the gospel: Jesus—our hope, our rest, our Savior.
FASTING GUIDES
Adults
Choose a fast that draws you into the presence of Jesus. Let the hunger remind you that He alone sustains us, and allow that space to become a place of prayer and dependence on God.
Children
Invite children to take part in simple, meaningful ways, giving up a small treat or activity and replacing it with prayer, generosity, or time in God’s Word. Even small steps can shape hungry hearts.
Pregnant or Nursing Women
We do not recommend fasting from food during this season. Instead, consider fasting from distractions and intentionally creating space for rest, prayer, and the presence of God.
Prayer
Prayer is central to who we are. During Lent, we’re committing to seek the presence of Jesus together.
Kinships
Our Kinships meet weekly and will be walking through a focused series on prayer—learning to listen, intercede, and contend together.
Weekly Prayer Points
Each week, prayer points will be provided so we can pray in unity as a church family.
